The Praxis Approach: Understanding patterns. Practicing change.
For those who feel stuck in patterns they can't break.
You are not broken —
but you may feel stuck.

I provide therapy and counseling for individuals working through addiction, trauma, and emotional overwhelm—so you can move forward with clarity and stability.
No commitment. Just a conversation.

About Me
A little about who I am and how I approach this work
I’m James Saxton, a licensed therapist based in San Antonio, Texas.
I work with individuals navigating addiction, trauma, and emotional overwhelm—helping them understand patterns, build awareness, and create meaningful change.

My Approach
Change begins with understanding.
Many of the patterns people feel stuck in didn’t appear overnight—they developed over time, often as ways of coping, protecting, or surviving.
In our work together, we take time to understand those patterns, build awareness around how they show up, and practice new ways of responding.
This isn’t about fixing you—it’s about helping you reconnect with clarity, stability, and choice.

What Shapes My Work
My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and shaped by experience across residential, outpatient, and private practice settings.

I draw from approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), cognitive and behavioral therapies, and experiential work—adapting to what each person needs in the moment.

I also provide trainings and presentations focused on trauma-informed care, substance use recovery, and other mental health topics.

Why This Work Matters
I’ve seen how patterns—especially around trauma, addiction, and emotional overwhelm—shape how people experience their lives.

And I’ve also seen that change is possible.

This work creates space to slow down, understand what’s been driving those patterns, and move forward with more clarity and intention.

At its core, this practice is about creating safety, connection, and meaningful change.
